Being 13 is hard. Surviving 7th grade seems daunting. After Timothy lost his Dad in the World Trade Centers, life seems impossible. Without the guidance of his father, his hero, Timothy falters under the common pressures of being a teenage boy—school, friends, peer pressure, and drugs. In his struggles to make sense of life and wondering “why, why would God allow his dad to be taken?”, Timothy begins to doubt and face fears that he has never known. Perhaps moving to Montana to live on a ranch with a strong male family member, Uncle Gus, could help fill some of the gaps. Perhaps, this change could cause a tragic situation to work out for the good.
