Overview

Yaqui, the chief of a once-mighty Yaqui tribe, is desperate to protect his people. Men from the East have ravaged his land for gold, provoking war and driving the Yaquis deep into an unknown wilderness. Just when Yaqui believes that his people are safe, hidden away in a fertile valley where they begin to prosper, his tribe is viciously attacked by Mexican soldiers and taken away as slaves. But Yaqui’s strong body and resilient spirit cannot be broken by his years of bondage. Though he sees his people waste away, suffer, and die, he watches and waits for his opportunity for revenge.
