The Selected Poems

Jonathan Swift stands today as one of the most versatile and forceful writers in the English language, and the rich canon of his poetry reflects his knowledge of human life. His poems include "The Beautiful Nymph Going to Bed", "The Run Upon the Bankers" and "Verses on the Death of Dr Swift DSPD". This anthology is arranged chronologically and is based on the 1735 edition of the poems, in the preparation of which Swift himself was deeply involved. The editor, Professor Jeffares, has written extensively on Swift and is an authority on W.B. Yeats.
