The sometime Pinkerton Detective, the consumptive and the drunk, the pioneer of noir writing, the bleak defier of McCarthy, the jailbird, the writer, and the Hollywood icon. Dashiell Hammett wrote only five books. This is the sixth. Dashiell Hammet was the author of the world famous MALTESE FALCON which changed the face of crime writing forever. He died in 1961.
