The Other Gods

In "The Other Gods" by H.P. Lovecraft, the high priest Barzai the Wise embarks on a daring climb to the peak of Mount Hatheg-Kla, seeking to witness the elder gods in their celestial glory. Accompanied by his disciple Atal, Barzai's hubris leads him beyond the boundaries of mortal knowledge.
