Tamburlaine the Great is a two-part play written by Christopher Marlowe in the late 16th century. Both parts of Tamburlaine the Great are known for their exploration of the theme of the rise and fall of a powerful individual and the consequences of unbridled ambition. The plays are also notable for Marlowe's use of poetic language and his portrayal of Tamburlaine as a charismatic yet ruthless figure.
