The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a short novel written by Robert Louis Stevenson. The novel was published in January 1886. The story features a solicitor named Gabriel John Utterson, who investigates the strange connection between Edward Hyde and Dr. Henry Jekyll. Dr. Jekyll is a philanthropist tormented by his dual personality, to the point of having created a drug that allows him to separate his good personality from his bad. However, his bad tendencies will gradually take over his good sides... The author will later confess that he imagined this story after having had a nightmare. Robert Louis Stevenson was born on November 13, 1850 in Edinburgh. A great traveler, this writer of Scottish origin will remain famous for his two novels, Treasure Island (1883) and The Strange Case of Doctor Jekyll (1886). He died on December 3, 1894 in Vailima (Samoa).
