Fifteen stories of 'new horror' (for 1929) by authors of crime and the supernatural including E. F. Benson, Walter de la Mare, Hugh Walpole, Arthur Machen, Algernon Blackwood, Mrs. Belloc Lowndes, and M. R. James. This collection was 'designed' by Lady Cynthia Asquith (1887-1960).
