This collection of original writings and translations by the Platonist Thomas Taylor serves as an introduction to the polytheistic religious views of the ancient Platonists. Included in this volume are articles by Taylor on both the theology and mythology of the Greeks, accompanied with his translations of On the Gods and the World by Sallust, a selection of Orphic Hymns, and an excerpt from Proclus' commentary on the Cratylus of Plato. Also included is a biographical and bibliographical sketch of the author and translator by William E. A. Axon.
