Excerpt from New Poems IN 1888 - 9 Robert Browning gave his personal supervision to the issue of his works in an edition of sixteen volumes, to which in 1894 was added a seventeenth volume, being Asolando, ' the work first published in December 1889, the month in which the poet died. A complete edition in two volumes appeared in 1896, edited by Mr. Augustine Birrell; whilst in 1912 was issued the Centenary Edition in ten volumes, under Sir Frederic Kenyon's editorship. To this edition were added ten poems, from various sources, that had not been included before in a collected edition of his works. At the dispersal of the Browning Collections in May 1913' - rendered necessary by the death of the poet's only son, Robert Barrett Browning, which occurred at Asolo on July 8, 1912 - twelve new poems by Robert Browning and numerous mss.
