An avid outdoorsman and hunter, President Theodore Roosevelt – 26th President of the United States – uses "Hunting Adventures in the West" to recount two of his most thrilling adventures during his time as a rancher in the South Dakota “Bad Lands”: the hunting of a massive, 1,200 pound Grizzly Bear and other game throughout the American West. Originally released in 1885, "Hunting Trips of a Ranchman" recounts Roosevelt's exploits through the coniferous forests of the Bighorn Mountains tracking the bear; yet he presents equal detail on the stunning wilderness, the mountains, rivers, and trails, and the simple joys of the ranching lifestyle. "The Wilderness Hunter," published in 1893, recounts the stunning game of the great plains – including the Blacktail Deer, Pronghorn Antelope, Bighorn Sheep, caribou, elk, American Buffalo, the Black and Grizzly Bears, and the cougar. It’s no surprise that the book is now considered a classic of outdoor literature and is still popular among hunters and nature enthusiasts today – and is a must read for any fan of Roosevelt’s classic exploits.
