by Thomas Mann
Here are ten fictional stories written by a long-term librarian at the largest library in the world. While the plots and characters are all made up, each story is an attempt to capture the fun of working at a reference desk in ways that nonfiction books on librarianship just cannot match. There are quite a few "tricks of the trade" that come out, too, that may even alert readers to more research options than they'll ever find in Google or Wikipedia.
