In 2023, to celebrate the 80th year of the publication of The Little Prince, an international polyglot edition of the book was released with just a limited initial print of 2,000 copies. This special edition of this beloved literature was written in 27 languages, one language for every chapter of the book’s 27 chapters. As the second most translated book in the world (second only to the Bible), this polyglot edition was truly a great tribute to this popular and beloved book. Since releasing the Cebuano/Baybayin translation of The Little Prince last year, I have been encouraged by many The Little Prince aficionados, both locally and abroad, to come up with another translation of the book. Most Filipinos speak or understand a minimum of two languages: a local lingua franca and English. I thus decided that for the first part of 2024, I would instead come up with a Filipino-style polyglot translation of The Little Prince. This edition translates The Little Prince in 18 Filipino languages, scripts, and regional variations. The languages and scripts used for this polyglot edition are: Filipino (Tagalog), Baybayin (Tagalog script), Ilokano, Iloko Baybayin script, Basahan (Bikolano script), Kulitan (Kapampangan script), Waray-Waray, Ineskaya, Bol-anon, Minasbate, Porohanon, Binantayanon, Ifugao (Tuwali), Ilonggo, Elab-Elab (Cebuano swardspeak), modern Dabawenyo, Bisaya Hervas (Cebuano Baybayin), and Cebuano.
