Winston Lord is an American diplomat and foreign-policy practitioner who worked closely with Henry Kissinger, later serving as president of the Council on Foreign Relations, US ambassador to China and assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs. Kissinger on Kissinger draws on a series of Lord's conversations with his former colleague about major diplomatic episodes, strategic thinking and the conduct of negotiations.
