Samad Behrangi

Samad Behrangi (1939–1968) was an Iranian teacher, social critic, folklorist, translator and short-story writer who carried the textures of village education and Azerbaijani oral tradition into children's literature. Little Black Fish (persian Version) follows a small creature determined to leave the familiar stream, turning curiosity and courage into a story of resistance to imposed limits. Little Black Fish and Other Modern Persian Stories broadens that world through fables concerned with poverty, unequal power and the possibility of collective change. Talkhoun draws on a darker folktale register, where repetition and ordeal test a character's resolve. Little Black Fish is the clearest first encounter with Behrangi's compact allegorical method; Talkhoun then reveals how strongly his storytelling is rooted in gathered folklore.
