Nader Khalili

Nader Khalili was an Iranian-born American architect, author and educator best known for developing ceramic-house experiments and the SuperAdobe earth-building system. He founded the California Institute of Earth Art and Architecture, where architecture was approached through local soil, emergency shelter and hands-on construction. Khalili also translated and adapted Persian poetry for English-language readers. The Love Poems of Rumi collects his renderings of poems attributed to Jalal al-Din Rumi and should be catalogued with a clear role distinction: Rumi is the historical poet, while Khalili is the translator, selector and interpretive voice of this edition. The English lines are therefore not transparent substitutes for a single fixed Persian source; selection, manuscript tradition and translation choices shape their tone.
