Mustafa Kemal Atatürk

Turkish military leader, statesman, and writer Mustafa Kemal Atatürk (1881–1938) led the national struggle, founded the Republic of Turkey, and served as its first president. His writing is best approached through The Great Speech, the English title of Nutuk, which recounts the years from 1919 to 1927 through documents, speeches, and his own political assessment.
