Louisa May Alcott

Louisa May Alcott (1832–1888) was an American novelist and short-story writer whose fiction links family life, women's independence, work, education, and moral choice. Little Women follows the March sisters as affection and scarcity shape four different paths toward adulthood; its domestic scale makes artistic ambition, paid labor, and care visible rather than small. Eight Cousins places Rose among an extended family and tests competing ideas about health, education, and how girls should be raised.
