Jalal al-Din Rumi

Jalal al-Din Rumi (1207–1273) was a thirteenth-century Persian-language poet, scholar, and Sufi mystic whose verse joins storytelling, ethical inquiry, and ecstatic devotion. Mystical Poems of Rumi gathers lyric poems shaped by longing, absence, and the transformation of the self through love. Discourses of Rūmī presents prose teachings drawn from his conversations, making his use of parable and interpretive reversal especially visible. The Mathnawi Maˈnavi of Rumi, Book-4 develops a different scale: stories interrupt one another, commentary opens inside narrative, and an ordinary incident becomes a question about attention or spiritual certainty. Rumi's teaching does not separate intellectual understanding from lived change; images of music, journey, hunger, and companionship repeatedly test that relation. Mystical Poems of Rumi reveals the lyric voice, while Discourses of Rūmī offers the clearest prose companion.
