Hasan Ali Toptaş is a Turkish novelist and short-story writer known for fiction in which memory, rural life, disappearance, and dreamlike shifts unsettle ordinary reality. Shadowless moves between a village and the act of narration itself, allowing missing people, unstable identities, and repeated scenes to make certainty increasingly elusive. Reckless follows damaged lives through isolation, violence, guilt, and the pressure of the past, yet its force comes as much from rhythm and atmosphere as from incident. Read together, the two English titles show different scales of his work: Shadowless is more overtly labyrinthine, whereas Reckless stays closer to the accumulated consequences carried by its characters. Shadowless offers the clearest route into his formal play; Reckless then shows how the same lyrical intensity can be directed toward a harsher social and emotional landscape.
